There’s a view that I knew: one of you. You’d see right through my plan. Hiding out at your house of cards, I always felt I was a part of your clan. We took on the world together as we always would forever. hand in hand and hearts a-tether at our new sunrise. I was your own favorite daydream and you my marvelous moonbeam. You lighted my way, but life taught me not to trust my eyes. That day gave us a chance, our debut. Every day begins with another choice. Each beginning is a potential point where we could have our most powerful voice. It gets harder to change our path. We didn’t plan, failed to do the math, and that’s when we fully feel the wrath of our own neglect. There’s no going back to reset the play. We have to renew our will to stay in the game, by living every single day with profound respect. It’s our day, day view. It’s our day, our debut lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP

Life seems to be wasted on the living. So much taking, so little giving, sustains a subpopulation unable to relate well to others, only able to hate. Of all our peacetime solutions it seems there’s so much more we lack. The glass half full is also half empty. Confront conflict, but watch my back. The wind of hate spreads through the world much faster, holding it back like drying plaster. If it continues for too long, it can only end in disaster. Of all our peacetime solutions we have yet to learn how to use even one. So many roads traveled, though so steady, always lead us back to petty (wars). lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP

I’ve got a few choice words for you, that may be just a little hard to hear. Come here, and I’ll try to soften the blow, though I know that nothing can come between us and the facts, except possibly certain acts of very bad temper. How could you salt that wound? You must have lost your mind and your soul to some devilish forces holding you, insane. What else could turn you into the selfish ruin of all that is peaceful and good? If you’re even human, you should be ashamed. You are the enemy, much too blind to see. You’re cattle down the line to be just more fodder for the GOP. lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP

Tidal Wave 04:58
Check out the crest of that tidal wave. The future is looking pretty bleak for us now. We’ve pressed our luck a thousand times and dodged the grave, though I would not take odds on exactly how. How much is enough or too much? The momentum will fold on us. Our paper figures won’t hold up (help us) Paper figures won’t hold (help) Figures won’t hold (help) From here the damage doesn’t look quite so bad. Maybe we’ve become immune to our demise. It’s no longer a matter of pleasure or pain, happy or sad. The rank and file just ignore their own desperate cries. lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP

Hidden Miss 03:23
Send in the clown fodder Out with the bathwater (toilet water) Everything’s a hidden miss (hit and miss) Before you know it, chances are, the center’s gone, the (this) dance is hardly over. It’s no wedded bliss. Frankly, things just fall apart. The open head and open heart will fester on the surgeon’s bed. Crests of waves will overtake you. Crooks with bank accounts will jake you, whether you’re alive or dead. No no no no no no! lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP

I don’t know where my mind is anymore So I just take off my head and throw it on the floor. “It’s the TV. Don’t let it confuse me. What’s happening everywhere doesn’t necessarily involve me.” When it just gets too much to bear. I make sure that my friends are near. My tenuous grasp on this creates my fear. It’s here! It’s far too close to me. I simply need a second simply not to be. Play something at full volume! I need…distractibility! lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP

Fade 09:28
If this whole dream should continue to fade, remember, there’s a time for taking up the blade, and there is a time to stop and evaluate the dark price of deceit. There’s also a question of whether we’re made of qualities that rise above the parade of fools that usually defines this fresh plate of tender white meat. Consider the grave consequences of a trade where the morally repugnant mount a vicious attack and tirade, and the rest of us only receive a statement of lies (avoiding damages), and no receipt. The flock of ne’er-do-wells who pillaged and flayed simply have a skin color considered high grade by a supremacy of power who think that fate chose them, all complete. To our surprise, we found out when their hands were played, that their allegiances had changed, so their morality was weighed. They definitely lost the ensuing heavy debate, but we’re all still stuck in the same concrete. lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP
8.
When we leave, we leave with nothing. Mother Earth won’t miss us at all. “After all is said and done” is a fairy tale. We have neither lost nor won. All we ever had was consciousness, and we still don’t even really know what that is. Humans understanding humans alone is like the blade sharpening the stone. Still, some of us did recognize it. A part of our selves is left behind. At the end, we didn’t all betray humanity, although so many were led so far astray. They knew Ma! Denouement. lyrics by Todd Franklin Osborn ©2023 Heaventree Records administered by ASCAP

about

The sixth full length album by The Trans Fatty Asses, titled Fade, fixates on exasperation felt about the Republican-led 2016-2020 American Federal administration, and especially about the events leading up to, and the aftermath of, the January 6, 2021 Insurrection.

Yeah, yeah, we all are sick of hearing about it, but one can't downplay the disastrous effect it all had on us as individual constituents of this "great" nation. Artists do Art because of things like this, and
The Trans Fatty Asses are no exception.

about

The Trans Fatty Asses Silver Spring, Maryland

The Trans Fatty Asses made a false start in 2010 when Todd Osborn (drums, guitar, voice, songs) attempted to put a live band together comprised of Bob Crain (drums, guitar, voice), Nick Johnson (Keys, electronics), and Aki Zenji (bass). Zenji had to leave the band, was replaced, but it all splintered after that due to bad timing. Osborn picked it up again as a personal recording project in 2016. ... more
