Hey! I took a piece of the gear,
and it looks like I’m going away.
Hey! I stole a piece from this here,
and they’re trying to put me away.
I gotta go to Mexico.

Selling Up

I’ve just been here way too long,
and I have felt this for a while.
My time has far passed for me to be gone.
The time has gone since I passed down the miracle mile.
I have to make haste on my way.
I’m getting too old to make a fresh start again.
Others tell there will come a day, but when I turn my back,
I will turn my back on them.
So I’m selling up! I gotta prove that I always was this man.
I’ve already emptied my loving cup.
I’ve got nothing left but to be my own fan.
I’m selling up! I gotta prove that I always was this man.
I’ve already emptied my loving cup.
I’ve got nothing left but to act on my own plan.

Feeling just like you do…though I know I never can, yet I choose to stay, living, and trying to connect with the flesh, the nerves, and taking all the curves as they come, thrown out by those others whose shouts drown the air (fill the silence). Some pray, some do the science, to understand the Universe and to address the curse, lifting their voices to the light. Riffing on the plight, the struggle: work and food and sex to juggle. Life and death are bonded here – pain and pleasure, hope and fear. Constraint/escape – the dope is clearly not the path for me, but coping is a need we all have.
Feeling just like you do…though I know I never can, I don’t refuse to.

The Trans Fatty Asses Silver Spring, Maryland
The Trans Fatty Asses made a false start in 2010 when Todd Osborn (drums, guitar, voice, songs) attempted to put a live band together comprised of Bob Crain (drums, guitar, voice), Nick Johnson (Keys, electronics), and Aki Zenji (bass). Zenji had to leave the band, was replaced, but it all splintered after that due to bad timing. Osborn picked it up again as a personal recording project in 2016. ... more
